APPLYING FOR INITIAL AND CONTINUING VA BENEFITS AT VANDERBILT

Documents required to apply for initial or continuing VA educational benefits can be printed from the web, or picked up in the University Registrar's Office. All completed forms should be returned to the University Registrar's Office.

 

• All VA students (new and returning) must submit a VA1 form each year prior to the fall certification period.  

• All VA students in graduate or professional programs at Vanderbilt and taking dissertation or research hours must submit a VA2 form each year prior to the fall certification period.


Are you eligible for Pre-certification?

   

Using VA Benefits for the First Time

  Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill)

       Complete an Application for VA Education Benefits (22-1990)

       Submit copies of all DD-214 forms

       Submit a VA1 form, and possibly a VA2 form (see information above)

Chapter 35 (Survivors and Dependents)

       Complete an Application for Survivors & Dependents Educational Assistance(22-5490)

       Submit a VA1 form, and possibly a VA2 form (see information above)

   

Using VA Benefits for the First Time at Vanderbilt

(Used VA benefits at another school)


Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill)

       Complete a Change of Program or Place of Training form (22-1995)

       Submit copies of all DD-214 forms

       Submit a VA1 form, and possibly a VA2 form (see information above)

Chapter 35 (Survivors and Dependents)

      Complete a Change of Program or Place of Training form (22-5495)

      Submit a VA1 form, and possibly a VA2 form (see information above)

 

Continuing Vanderbilt VA Students

Submit a VA1 form, and possibly a VA2 form (see information at top of page)

If you have made any changes in your program of study since the last time you submitted your VA1 form, you must complete a Change of Program or Place of Training form (22-1995)
